There is a great lack in culture in our society. For a country that is based on free market capitalism and is only 243 years old, this is the culture we get. One that is obsessed with corporations to the extent that people wait in line for products and have debates on cartoon characters. It won't stop, and it’s only going to get worse.

I’m lucky that even on a mildly shitty day I can listen to some music and get transported to a comfortable emotional environment and vibe to it. I know music doesn’t work this way for everyone and I’m grateful it does for me.

As far as I can tell it’s late stage capitalism culture. Everything is a commodity. It’s not so much that capitalism is bad. It’s that this is the extreme form of it. It’s especially bad in the US. Where people dress up as working class people. Look at brands like OFF WHITE and Heron Preston. Fetishizing construction and waste management garb. Everything is for sale.
